The Broken House

Benicia, California

This one is close to our hearts.  A Portuguese generational family house dating back to the 1880’s, owned by the Moreiras in Benicia.  Ken and Christi (who grew up in the house) have taken on the labor of love to bring the house back to its former glory. The grandkids fondly refer to the house as “The Broken House”.

The renovation includes a complete replacement of the existing foundation including an expansion of the garage not original to the house, dug out mid 20th century.

The house was lifted to allow the foundation work to proceed and the renovation includes replacing the stucco (not original) with V-rustic siding, replacing the aluminum windows with more historically sound single hung windows, a new porch, deck and entry stair as well as a complete remodel and update of the interior to provide a house to retire in.
