A residence for a growing family in Ozark, Missouri. The design concept for this house evolves from the radiant energy of an arc-shaped structure sited to embrace the natural beauty of the site’s seasonal creek, bisected by an axis of ISO shipping container tree house follies. Site landscaping graduates from the natural long prairie grasses of the area to medium growth grasses and gardens to groomed areas for children to play. The building’s radial shed roof is stabilized by a reclaimed horizontal wood slat wall presenting itself upon approach, sheltering the open living spaces from the sun and providing a level of privacy. Features include radiant floor heating, vaulted wood ceilings, a concrete weather shelter, custom wood-faced kitchen counter and exterior bar-b-q, an attic media/play room, and a detached living area for the family’s parents.
