In conjunction with our friends at Mark Davis Design, FOG Studio helped guide the Community of Brentwood, California towards a new Library. The initial commission was to design a small addition and remodel of the modest storefront Library across from beautiful City Park. Our task then morphed into a Needs Assessment that analyzed peer libraries, use trends, and future-proofing. This report helped City leadership decide to build a new 20,500 square foot facility on the site instead.

Space planning for the new building provides for a vibrant children’s section, a large community meeting room, and innovative connectivity between interior and exterior. Our conceptual design ideas explore aspects that are unique to the area: nature walks over marshland, arcaded cloisters, collection of precious rainwater, and the influence of the Delta.

Renderings and diagrams of these ideas will help the City raise the additional funds needed to build this much larger project. This unique Library will serve as Brentwood’s community hub for generations.
